Most of you have heard by now about the upcoming Playstation 3 Slim announced at GamesCon. We all knew this was coming, PS1 slim, PS2 slim, and of course now PS3 slim. The Slim will be released the first week of September for only $300 or 300 Euro. So let’s dive farther into the specs.

  • 32 percent lighter
  • 36 percent smaller
  • Will use 34 percent less power
  • 120 GB HDD

As expected the PS3 Slim will take up less room on your shelf and it will be more energy efficient. This is all great news, but the best part is the Price drop. The PS3 is now the same price as the Xbox 360 and just $50 more than the Wii. Unfortunately the Slim is not backwards compatible with PS2 games but it is compatible with PS1 games. The same ports can be found on the Slim as on the regular PS3, which is great. There are 2 USB ports on the front to plug in any accessories.

Probably the most notable change on the Slim (other than the fact that it’s smaller) is the new matte finish, this could be a let down to many because everyone liked the nice piano finish. However think on the bright side, you don’t have to deal with dust as much. Also the touch sensitive buttons are now physical buttons that you press. I don’t really know why Sony removed them but it’s definitely a disappointment.

So that’s about it, what do you guys think about the Slim? Like it, dislike it? Will you buy it? I know I might.

Nintendo DSi Release Date - April 5

Posted by Admin on April 4, 2009 at 08:45 am

Yes, that’s right the DSi will be released in the US tomorrow April 5th. If you have not pre-ordered yours and you want one I would highly recommend you do because there won’t be too many in stock when because there are many pre-orders.

The launch colors will be black and blue so you don’t have too many choices. There will be DSi only retail games which is not good for DS users who don’t want to upgrade. Downloadable content is also a new feature, and mp3 playing.

At $169.99 with all the new features I would say it’s worth buying, even if you have a DS Lite. So, will you buy one?

BIA: Hour Of Heroes Review

Posted by Admin on December 14, 2008 at 20:11 pm

Brothers in Arms is a great series that most of you have played or at least heard of. The game has many versions out for consoles, but now it has been brought to the iPhone and iPod Touch. This version of the game is called Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes. The game can be downloaded from the App Store for $10, and let me say this “It is worth every penny”.

As soon as you launch the game, an intro will start playing, you can tap the screen and press done to skip it or you can watch it to the end. After the intro the main menu will pop up on the screen. On the bottom of your screen you will have 4 options, Engage which will tell you what mission you are on, the campaign, and difficulty settings. You also start your game from there by tapping the “Go” button. Then you have “Missions”, here you can choose your campaign and see the campaigns you have unlocked so far. Then we have “Options”, not too much here but to change controls of the game such as, motion sensor, and lefty controls. Last but not least, we have the “Achievements”; here you can view all the achievements you have earned throughout the game. Tapping the name of the achievement you can see what you need to do to unlock the achievement. Here is a screenshot of the main menu.

When you tap “Go”, the game will begin to load, while it’s loading, there will be a quote on the screen for you to read. The game loads pretty fast which is a good thing. You and your squad will have to reach checkpoints which are places where your game will be saved so if you die you will be brought to the last checkpoint you reached. On your way you will have to kill the “bad guys” of course. The controls are simple but for me it took some time getting used to. If you said you were right-handed in the options the joystick will be on the bottom right hand side of your screen. If you said you were left-handed then it’s on the bottom left side. The joystick is used to move your character while you move the camera with your other thumb by simply moving it left or right on the screen. There is a little icon on the bottom left-hand side if you are right-handed, which if tapped will fire the gun. On the top right you have the name of the weapon you are using along with a picture of it; there you can also see your health. Tapping the weapon will pause the game and bring up a menu. The menu has options like “Reload Checkpoint”, “Restart Mission”, and “Quit Mission”. Oh and did I mention the graphics are quite impressive! Here is a shot of the gameplay.

Overall, this is a great game and for sure it would be in my top 10 iPod Touch/iPhone apps. The game is just great, a few problems here and there with crashing, but it has only crashed on me once. So that’s not a problem, and I am sure that this problem will be fixed in an upcoming update. I give Brothers in Arms; Hour of Heroes a 4.5/5. As always, thanks for reading!
