Laptop Hunter Ads - Lauren and Sue

Posted by Stuart on July 24, 2009 at 11:59 am

The ad:

So, as usual, they go into Best Buy. They are looking for a laptop with Speed, Portability, and Battery life for under $1700. Then there’s the normal “You find it, you keep it”. Lauren says she is going into law-school and needs a laptop that is portable. The look at some PC’s, starting with a Dell. Then they go and look at the MacBook Pros. She says “This one only has a 250 GB hard drive” “It seems like your paying a lot for the brand”. She loves speed and loves running programs.  They end up going BACK to the first Dell they looked at and bought that one. The employee says “There’s only one left”. The total price was 971.99. “A lot less than my goal of $1700″ “Yaaaa.”

MY Opinion:

Okay, my stuff here might be a little bit scrambled, but I’ll try to keep it as organized as possible. First off, when they gave the specs she wanted, I thought the MacBook Pros where just fine for her. Then they go look at stuff. When she said “This one ONLY has a 250 GB hard drive” I was like WHAT???? Are you serious? You said you where going into law-school. Why would you need something bigger than that?!  “It seems like your paying a lot for the brand”. I will have to agree with this a little bit. But then again, I don’t agree with her that much. When you are a law student, especially, you want a computer that IS fast and will work when you want it to and the way you want it to. A Mac would give you awesome speed, portability, and functionality. Plus you wouldn’t have to worry about viruses or installing tons of stuff in order to run something.

For Lauren, I would suggest either the higher-end MacBook Pro 13″ or the low end 15″. They both have a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM, a pretty good graphics card, 250GB hard drive, and a 7 hour battery. If she wanted portability, I would go with the 13″. If not, I would choose the 15″.

So, what are your thoughts about this ad?

Samsung Behold (SGH-T919) Review for T-Mobile

Posted by Admin on July 3, 2009 at 17:47 pm

The Samsung Behold is a T-Mobile exclusive feature phone with a 3 in. touch screen display and a 5.0 megapixel camera with flash. The phone also features a GPS with voice http://tech4teens.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/samsung-behold.jpgnavigation, a full HTML browser, Instant Messaging (AIM, ICQ, Live, Yahoo), IMAP and POP3 e-mail, music and video playback, voice control, and more. The phone has a build in accelerometer meaning you can view photos, videos, and web pages, in landscape or portrait by simply rotating the phone. Now the keypad, you have two choices, using the portrait alphanumeric keypad or the landscape full QWERTY keypad. I have no problem typing on the Behold, it takes a little bit getting used to though.

Browser and e-mail
The browser on the the Behold is not the best, it’s very slow when opening pages on T-Mobile’s poor 3G network, e-mail is also slow when opening your inbox or a single message. However 10 e-mail providers are supported which a plus. (AIM, AOL, Yahoo, Comcast, CompuServe, Earthlink, Gmail, HotPOP, Juno, Mac)

Camera
The 5.0 megapixel camera is located on the back of the phone, it also has a flash and a vanity mirror. The camera does a great job outside but inside the photos might turn out unfocused. The Behold also records video, although it does poorly in low light conditions.

Texting and IM
Instant Messaging works great but it might be a disappointment to some because you can only have one IM app open at a time. Texting works great, you can also send photos(MMS), videos, and sound files. Like I said the keypad works great but you might need to get used to it.

Call Quality and Service
Unfortunately the call quality on the Behold is bad, it sounds very close to someone talking in a tube. This is very disappointing. I’ve been getting around 3 bars in my house with the
http://www.digitaltechnews.com/news/images/2008/11/10/samsung_behold.jpgBehold, however with my old phone I usually had full bars.

On the front of the phone you see the 3 in. display, the speaker, and the 3 physical buttons. The send and end keys and a back button between them. On the right side of the phone we have the dedicated camera button right next to it you see the unlock button. On the left side of the phone there’s a volume rocker and underneath it we have the proprietary Samsung charge/headphones/data port. Nothing on the top and bottom of the device.

Conclusion
I think the Behold is a great cell phone,  there are some let downs here and there but overall I think it’s worth it.
One thing I am disappointed about is the lack of a 3.5 mm. headphone jack, you’re stuck with the included Samsung set which in my opinion are horrible. So if you are on T-Mobile and are in the market for a new phone check out the Samsung Behold, it comes in two colors, brown and pink!

Nintendo DSi Release Date - April 5

Posted by Admin on April 4, 2009 at 08:45 am

Yes, that’s right the DSi will be released in the US tomorrow April 5th. If you have not pre-ordered yours and you want one I would highly recommend you do because there won’t be too many in stock when because there are many pre-orders.

The launch colors will be black and blue so you don’t have too many choices. There will be DSi only retail games which is not good for DS users who don’t want to upgrade. Downloadable content is also a new feature, and mp3 playing.

At $169.99 with all the new features I would say it’s worth buying, even if you have a DS Lite. So, will you buy one?

Yes they are, the Switcheasy rebel essentials are now available on Switcheasy’s website. If you own a rebel, or rebel touch for your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G then you might want to take a look at this new product.

Do you love your rebel? Have you ever wished you can have all the colors? Well now you can without spending nearly as much cash. A rebel essential is the “back bone” of your rebel, you can order more in different colors to change them from time to time. Or if you are in a situation where that piece snaps then you can just order a new one for only $4.99. They come in 5 different colors and they are, black, white, red, orange, and purple.

To order one of the Rebel Essentials for your iPod touch 2G or iPhone 3G, you can visit Switcheasy’s website/store here. I think Switheasy will add more colors later on, when they do I will let you guys know.

Amazon Kindle 2 Photos

Posted by Admin on February 8, 2009 at 18:38 pm

I have seen many leaked photos of the Kindle 2 all over the internet recently, and they look pretty realistic. It is incredibly thin, in fact as thin as a pencil. The Kindle 2 looks like it will have an aluminum back which looks very sleek, like Apple products. As for the price no one really knows, but it is predicted that it will be $359, and it will be released on February 24th. If you are a current Kindle owner then I don’t really see a reason to upgrade. Unless you really want a aluminum back and a thinner body.

If you are in the market for an electronic book reader then I would wait until February 24th. The Amazon Kindle Store has over 100,000 books, newspapers, and magazines, so you will have a wide selection of books to choose from. Here are a few leaked photos of the Amazon Kindle 2.

http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22752&d=1233965899http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22753&d=1233965899http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22754&d=1233965899http://www.mobileread.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=22751&d=1233965899

I think this is what the new Kindle 2 will look like, and it looks great. Way better looking than the original Kindle. Let me know what you think of these photos. I wonder if there will be a new software update? And one last question, How will the Kindle 2 compete with Sony’s e-Reader?

GelaSkins Review

Posted by Ryan on February 6, 2009 at 14:48 pm

Hey everybody Ryan here again and this time I am here to do a quick review of GelaSkins for the iPhone/iPod Touch and many other products that you would like to put stickers on to protect your device or devices.

GelaSkins also has skins for laptops which include the line of MacBooks.

These GelaSkins are great skins for any of your products and am currently using mine on my iPod Touch 2G.  Also GelaSkins has some great screen protectors for the iPhone/iPod Touch which are really great screen shields.  The skins and the screen shields are really easy to apply and they looks great and also if you use a skin on your device it does not add any bulk so you will not have to remove if you wanted to use an additional case for your device.

I hope everybody enjoyed this quick review of GelaSkins for all of your tech gadgets that you may have and go ahead and check them out at www.gelaskins.com.  I am sure that you will love there selection of skins for many devices.

Also one more thing I forgot to mention.  If you were to buy a skin for the iPhone/iPod Touch you can also go to their website and download a wallpaper for your iPhone/iPod Touch that will match the skin and blend in as if it were a sticker on the screen.

Thanks everybody,

Ryan M
